Wilcox L4 G29 Mount with Wilcox Three Hole Shroud for LUCIE NVG - Black
Wilcox Industries designs some of the most sophisticated and user-centric night vision helmet mount systems available. The first reaction people tend to have is to balk at the price tag. Sure, it is expensive, but like everything: you get what you pay for. Wilcox helmet mounts are, literally, works of engineering art. They are designed with direct input from US Warfighters at the very tip of the sharp stick. These designs are refined until they reach perfection and are then masterfully crafted in Wilcox’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
The Wilcox L4 G29 Mount System is designed specifically to interface with the AN/PVS-29 (LUCIE) Night Vision Goggle. The LUCIE is used by various U.S. and European specialized military units. The L4 G29 allows operators to mount the LUCIE NVG directly to any three-hole WARCOM pattern drilled helmet via the included Wilcox L4 Three-Hole Shroud with Retractable Lanyard.
The L4 G29 comes with a drop-in replacement dovetail interface for the LUCIE NVG, allowing it to easily connect to the mount itself. The mount provides unparalleled adjustment options to insure the goggle has the proper placement in front of the user’s eye. Dual bars allow for positive fore/aft adjustment of the goggle and the familiar Wilcox locking vertical adjustment insures the device is properly placed. Another 15° tilt adjustment allows for fine-tuning. These adjustment points allow the LUCIE goggle to conform to a wide variety of head shapes and sizes.
A push-button release allows the engagement of the flip mechanism for stowage of the LUCIE goggle when not needed, allowing the goggle to pivot 228° in front of the head. The operator can choose to engage the side-mounted magnetic coupling that will automatically shut off the goggle when it is flipped up to the stowage position.
Of course, the L4 G29 Mount System features Wilcox’s patented breakaway mechanism. The breakaway feature allows the operator to preset the mount for a secure lock with the shroud or to allow it to break away under stress so as to prevent injury. Activities that could cause entanglement such as rappelling and fast roping or high speed operations where the NVG can bang into objects are a leading cause in neck and head injury to soldiers. The ability of the L4 G29M to break free of the shroud under these conditions protects the user’s body and the NVG from severe injury or damage. The L4 G29 system comes complete with the Wilcox L4 Three Hole Shroud and Wilcox patented integrated Retractable Lanyard assembly.
Regardless of the benefits, we are still asked about the price. Our answer is always this: why would you want to mount your expensive NVG’s on the cheapest mount you can find? Wilcox has and continues to set the bar to which all other mounts are measured.
